New Addition to the Jecha Family

We have a new grandpuppy in the Jecha Family. Pamela has a new puppy named Ratchet. He is a Sheltie. Ratchet has a big brother Rocco, who is learning that he is not the center of attention anymore. Ratchet has an Uncle Chaco who lives with Grandma and Grandpa, Linda and Tom. Ratchet is very cute and very smart, just ask Pam.

Mom has the shingles in case anyone doesnt' know .
She has been hurtin with her neck for about a week.. then her arm .She went to the dr. on Monday and he told her it was a muscle .. Gave her muscle relaxers... next day she was stilll in pain ... her and dad found a sore on her back. Doc confirmed it on Thurs. Gave her meds and she was still inpretty bad pain this morning.

Roper and Grandpa and Speed demon Grandma

Mom and Dad came to Abilene today . We had lunch being that Roper leaves to college tomorrow.

We leave tomorrow morning on our way to Levelland , South Plains College..which is just west of Lubbock. Taking a kid to college is an experience for me... Hope I do ok. Seems like yesterday Roper was going to kindergarten.

Mom has some news of her own...I won't tell.... vroom vroom... is all I will say . Give her a call.

I told her I wouldn't put it on the blog!! LOL!

Jaquelin and Jessica's 1st Day of school

Today I left my heart in kindergarden.......The teacher gave us this activity before we left our child that completely broke my heart. She gave us each traced hands with a string tied around it called "The Kissing Hand" We exchanged heart stickers and we both kissed the hands and then exchanged them in the back there was a poem "I'm off to school to have some fun But I'll always be your little one. If you miss me I'll understand just please remember your kissing hand." I think I cried all day as well as when I told anyone that asked me about my day or about the hand I had hanging around my neck. This was such a hard day for me alot harder that it ever was with the other 2 kids maybe its because she is my special little baby. :(

Mom and Dad are coming over tomorrow for supper. We are cooking steaks and all the trimmings . We are celebrating thier 61 years..,,, Gary being home for a week,,,and Roper leaving to college.

LOCAL HAPPENINGS

On Monday, August 10, visiting the Ed Martinez household in Hemet, California were none other than Alice and Lindsay Johnson. This was their first time visiting in Hemet and luckily, there was no traffic and made it From Santa Monica to here in less than two hours (100+) miles. We visited and enjoyed lunch at Applebee's. Lindsay enjoyed many of Elise's old recipe books including some from Rhineland and Knox County (Texas). We really enjoyed their visit and hopefully next time they can stay longer.

On another note, the leg from my hip joint fracture is healing well with still time to go. While there is still some pain in the leg, yesterday the Orthopedic Surgeon who did my surgery started to let me start putting weight on the leg. It will take some time to really start putting up to 50% of the weight on the leg, and will take a little time to trust it. It will at least let me start walking a little using a walker and will get me off of the wheelchair a lot less.

Lesson learned: Stay away from ladders or at least be very careful with them as you get older. It takes a lot longer to heal with age. That's all for now and until then, let us all know what is happening with your families by using the old blog.

TEXAS HEAT.........WHEW..............

It has been a scorcher here in Texas. Setting records here in Abilene. I was glad I was not near Wichita Falls this week.........they got to 109.

Mom and Dad are doing fine. Dad always tells me things that mom has done during the week ...and tells me " go put it on the computer" ... and Mother says " shutup..... I'm gonna put what you do on the computer!" . He said on the way back from Ft. Worth they stopped at Springtown @ McDonalds and Mom tryed to walk into the kitchen instead fo the restrooms.
Now.......she will be gettiing on me about putting everything on 'THE BLOG" ..as she calls it .

We had lunch the day after the big July 4th party at the Johnsons. We all met at Lubys and had a good lunch . Can't believe we all ate again after all the food we had at Phillip and Alices.

I'M BACK

Hello everyone. Well I'm back from that disastrous fall from a ladder. The right hip joint socket was fractured in a lot of pieces and after 11-12 hours of surgery and some titanium plates and screws the fantastic Orthopedist was able to put the pieces together. Can you imagine the surgeon being able to sit or stand for that long a time? I can't even sit in this wheelchair for more thana half hour at one time. Anyhow, to make a long story short, I spent 21 days in the Kaiser Riverside hospital and 20 days in Manor Care Rehab Center in Hemet before coming home. After the operation I also spent about ten of those days due to upper bowel obstruction until they could get that straighten out as well. Altogether I have spent some of the most painful days that you could not just imagine. I don't believe there is not anything that they could have done to me that would be more painful. The best thing is that the nightmare is over. I cannot put any weight on the right leg for three months. There has been excellent progress on the leg with rehab and almost everyday there is some progress. However the leg still throbs and as I said, it is hard for me to sit in the wheelchair and using a walker to get around much. So, don't wish this on your worst enemy.

Thank you all so very much for your calls and cards that you sent wishing me well and also for your prayers. I want you all to know that it was most appreciated. I also want to thank my dear wife who stood by me day and night in the hospital and having to suffer and sleep in tiny chairs next to me. There were a lot of things she did for me that the wonderful nurses could not do while there. She is an angel and I owe her. The doctors and staff at Kaiser Hospital Riverside were fantastic and I would highly reccomend them. Thanks again to all of you.

P.S. Note the weight loss on my Picture. I lost 25 lbs. All right sisters lose the weight by exercise instead of a hospital. LOL

Ray Escobar having surgery

Talked to mom this morning . They had some rough storms last night . Had tree branches knocked off and they have had no electricity since 7 last night. They are roughing it . Dad got bit by wasp on his throat and his eye lid..

Mom told me that Ray was having open heart surgery tomorrow. He is having a valve replaced . He had a angiogram done Wed. so they have decided to go thru with this surgery .

I guess there is nothing else to report on . Sure wish Eddie had access to the blog . Maybe he can catch up one day ...but here's hoping he has a speedy recovery .
