Mom went to her heart doctor today. So she told me to post what was told to us cause she is alittle confused.
We went back to get the results from her stress test. The stress test showed she has some irratiation in the front part of her heart. She had two options.... just let it go ...hope nothing happens...or go into the hospital and have a catheter ablation to see how much blockage she has...and if she has alot then they would go in and do a procedure such as a stint.
Next... she has arial fibillation......which is a crazy heartbeat.... fast...and fluttery.... and in order to slow it down he wants her on coumadin...and she went ahead and got the prescription,,,and also he put her on Rythmol-225mg. She had a EKG today and it shows her abnormal hearbeat....She really didn't want to be on Coumadin but we made the decision to go ahead today. Her doctor really thought she needed it more than just a plain asprin.
So now she comes back on Friday for another EKG.... , again on Monday,,, the 15th a halter monitor, and another EKG....and a coumadin test,,and EKG on the 17th, ,
Are u confused yet??? Cause I am ..... basically she is at risk for a heart attack with the first diagnosis,,,and a stroke with the latter.
She doesn't want to but I think we need to go ahead and have the catheter ablation done.
Okay...thats all for now....

Well, if she has a lot of blockage wouldn't she have chest pain? Kirk is on coumadin for his heart fibrillation. I think there is alot of blood work that has to be done before they get the right amount of blood thinner.
The doctor said the stress test showed some POOR CIRCULATION in the front area. I could not think of the word last night.
After reading an interesting article on pros and cons of using coumadin, it appears that this is the most effective method. My concern especially since I had used coumadin for my stroke for a short time, is that being in KC, away from good doctors is that the amount to use has to be closely monitored. If you use too much you can get internal bleeding very easily until someone can regulate it properly. If Eva can be monitored for at least a week or so, then this is probably the most effective treatment. Catheter Ablation is probably the way to go. Although, we are not doctors, we try to stay well informed and alert to our own healthcare needs.
Yes, I agree u have to be very careful with coumadin. She didn't know until I told her last night that she was not to take advil, alleve,,,tylenol...or nothing like that for awhile. THe doctor said if he saw in a 6 mon.to a year that everything was better he would take her off.
I think he will want to see her at least once a month.
