SECOND TIME FOR POLL---REUNION

You have one more time to vote on a location for a Martinez Reunion. If you have someone who doesn't know about this poll you better tell them to get on here and vote. If you vote please comment on this post that you voted. No--no---no---double voting. Let the poll begin. Remember ..... vote on a place where you think more people would be able to attend. My dads family has decided to cancel their annual reunion that we have had for 8 yrs. It's sad,,,,but it was the same one in charge every year and it kinda just got old. But when was the last Martinez one?????

Sorry to outshine the blue dress-----

Mom went to the doctor yesterday and he told her she had used up all her alternative options besides surgery. He will go in there and just remove the damaged or deteriated disc and free up the canal where her nerve is that is causing all the pain. He guaranteed to get rid of the leg pain with that procedure. He feels he does not need to perform the fusion part because her back pain is not that great. If later in the future it gets unbearable then he would proceed with that option. Right now this surgery would require one night stay and about a week of bed rest .In about a month she should be ready to go. If you added the fusion part we would be talking about alot more recovery part. We are just making sure this is the surgeon we want to use and trying to decide on a date. Mom must have been excited because her BP was 201/87...finally it went down to 197/? . He told her to keep her eye on that. The doctor also asked her if the pain got worse when she went into a store shopping ....and she said "no........ I don't think so " but if Daddy would have been in the room he would have jumped up and showed the doc how FAST she walks when they do walk into a store. He says "her pain just goes away!"

RIP my little blue dress

Since I haven't posted in awhile, here is a pic of my friend, Lauren, and I on New Years. Colorful, huh?! This pic was taken by a D Magazine photographer which is a pretty big magazine in our area. You can't tell, but I had big fake eyelashes on that night too that were awesome!

I have a funny story about my dress. I bought it only a few weeks ago for New Years Eve since that is a big night in Dallas, as is every night, but I digress! Anyways, I splurged and bought a Betsey Johnson which is one of my favorite designers for short, fun party dresses. I took it to our dry cleaners so I could bring it to Vegas (going for MLK weekend and so is Theresa!)..Well, guess what?! I heard there was a big fire in Uptown on Friday. Well, it was MY dry cleaners that burnt down and guess where a few of my best dresses were? THERE!
I was pissed, but they are going to reimburse me so I guess I will have to go shop for some new ones..My mom said, "Yeah, that WAS a really
HOT dress!"

Blogging

For those who have had trouble posting ....(maybe that is why it is the same ol people always posting ) ..here is a helpful hint. Look up to the far right corner and it will have "sign in" . Double click on that and see if that will take you to the dashboard that will help you publish a new post or pictures.
Would love to have pictures from the rest out there who don't post or can't. I hope this helps.
Happy blogging!
Oh by the way..here's news from this homefront.
* Irene and Roper, and Ropers girlfriend had supper with Alice and Phillip Saturday nite after a quick trip to Dallas. Sure was goooooooooood and Phillip treated!!
*Sylvia and Shane have been at Mom and Dads all weekend.
* Mom comes to the doctor tomorrow to see a surgeon concerning her diagonosis with severe lumbar stenosis. She has had quite a bit of pain these last few weeks.
* Today the weather is absolutely beautiful...and I finally took my Christmas tree down.
*Hope the Cowboys do good this coming weekend!!

BRINGING HOME CHRISTMAS

A train heading west to Texas. Hope it is bringing that Giant Flat Screen Plasma that is bringing Alice J. that Christmas present she is wishing for. Those NBA games in HD are looking real good. Just maybe we'll see the Cowboys on that plasma for the big Super Bowl come next January.

FINALLY RAIN IN SO CAL

Finally we're back in Southern California. We got back around 2:30 p.m., Tuesday the 27th. While our trip started with sadness with Elise's father passing away on the 13th and the funeral in Gilliland on the 17th, we got to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with all our friends and relatives. For those of you in Texas, thank you all so much for your sympathies and kindness and your hospitalities for letting us stay with you while we were there.

Last Friday, it finally started to rain in Southern California. We have not had any significant rain for about an year and a half. We had around 2 1/2 inches in our area and we really needed it. The picture above is what we called Lake Maybe or Lake Imagine because it is almost always dry. It is the lake across the street from us.Our house is just across the street from the houses you see in the foreground. I have uploaded some pictures we took at Thanksgiving and some pictures while traveling home. You may view them on a Google Picasa Web album. You should be able to click or double click on the URL below. If not copy it and paste it to your browser. go to where it says slide show and enjoy the pictures.
